What is a XWD file?
Another file format belonging to the Raster file types, the XWD is an uncompressed bitmap created using the X Windows System. The software manages networking between client and server computers. The file extension primarily stores the screenshots or screen-dumps and is created by the XWD client process.
These files can be enormous in term of size due to their uncompressed nature. These can contain different color schemes which depend on the type of graphics adapter the user possesses. It can be either monochrome, TrueColor, fixed color, or anything else. One surprising fact is that you may find several software to be incapable of handling all these color schemes, i.e. a particular software which can open TrueColor may not be able to handle Monochromes.
