What is an XML File?
XML files, or Extensible Markup Language files is a markup language that is a set of rules for encoding documents in a way that is both human and machine-readable. The original use for .XML was focused on documents, but the file has also become a way to represent arbitrary data structure. Its design was meant to emphasize usability, simplicity, and generality across the internet. Programmers have created many API’s and there are a few schema systems that aid in the definition and processing of XML data. There have been hundreds of document formats created that use the XML syntax, including Microsoft Office.
