What is a WTV file?
Developed by Microsoft, the Windows Media Center, a multimedia content recorder and player uses the WTV format to save video clips or television shows recorded by it. These files are created by a Stream Buffer Engine (SBE) when the software records a TV show. A WTV format uses MPEG-2 compression for storing videos and Dolby Digital AC-3 or MPEG-1 Layer II for audio purposes. Also, you may find some metadata and DRM information in them.
