What is a WEBLOC file?
A WEBLOC file is basically a shortcut that is created by web browsers in macOS such as Apple Safari or Google Chrome. The main content of these files is the URL link for the website page that it has been obtained. The creation of the WEBLOC file is made possible by dragging the URL in the address field of the website. You can then drop it on the desktop page of the computer or into any other folder in the hard drive. The Safari browser commonly uses WEBLOC files, but other browsers such as Firefox, chrome, and opera in macOS can use them too. Most browsers support the drag and drop technique, which involves the dragging of the link into another website page. Alternatively, double-clicking the link will redirect the user into the default browser, where they will be able to access the page. However, WEBLOC files are not supported by the windows version of the Safari browser.
