What is a SAVE file?
Developed by Nano, the Unix Nano text editor stores its temporary files in SAVE format. These are plain text files and generate automatically when the program runs out of memory or receives a SIGTERM or SIGHUP message. These are backup files which are deleted by the system once the user saves the original file.
