What is a RM file?
Developed by RealNetworks, the RM extension is a multimedia container format. It is capable of storing both audio and video files. Where the RealAudio format saves the former, the RealVideo saves the latter and users can stream these files on the net or via radio services. These files use a constant bitrate technique which makes them inefficient in handling more complex multimedia structures. The RM file format is no longer in use and has been replaced by RMVB extension.
