What is a RAW file?
A RAW file stores an unadulterated image that has not been subjected to any editing yet. These files are lossless and store a lot of details. It lets the users use any software to manage its white balance, saturation, exposure, and much more after shooting the image. Most major camera OEMs such as Leica, RED, Kodak, and others support shooting in RAW format.
Unlike JPEG or other lossy formats, these files do not lose out on details while compressing them and most users prefer them so as they take up a lot of space when uncompressed. a RAW file generally contains a short header, metadata about the sensor and the image, a preview, and other relevant data.
