What is a PTX file?
It is a Pro Tools 10 software in digital audio workstations. PTX files are used for audio referencing only; hence they do not contain any audio files. If you are using an older version of Pro Tools 10, the extension will read .PTF. Generally, it maps all audio, MIDI data elements, including edits, and mix information. It is also famous in court E-transcripts. During court sessions, hearing transcripts are stored in PTX formats and later shared via email. That is made possible by the fact that email servers cannot block them unlike .EXE audio files. Those using Pro Tools 7 to 9 cannot access PTX files. However, the files (PTF) can be converted to PTX for later sharing. After saving, note that some new Pro Tool 10 features may be lost along the way e.g., clip gain settings. Also, note that you can only open one file at a time with the Pro Tools Software.
