What is a PSD file?
A PSD file is a native format used to save the output from the Adobe Photoshop software. It can include several layers such as image layers, adjustments, layer masks, keywords, file information, annotations, and others as available in the software. It has a maximum height and width of 30,000 pixels, and the size doesn’t exceed 2 GB.
The PSD file saves the data in the big-endian byte order by default. It supports a host of modes such as RGB, grayscale, CMYK, lab color, monochrome, indexed color, duotone, and multichannel color modes. It even allows you to change the color within the image.
The PSD files need Apple Preview or other media programs (Windows) with the necessary codec to be able to preview it. You can save the final output in any of the usual formats such as JPEG, PNG, or GIF.
