What is a NEF file?
Developed by Nikon, the NEF format stores a RAW photo captured by its digital cameras. These files come in 12-bit or 14-bit data form depending on the camera. Users can tweak various aspects of the image, such as exposure, hue, tone, white balance, contrast, and others to give it a look that they desire.
