What is a MOF file?
Developed by Desktop Management Task Force, the MOF extension refers to a Managed Object Format file. The format belongs to settings file and contains text defining CIM (Common Information Model) classes. These are used by providers to tweak specific parameters, such as that of WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) and to transfer them across devices.
Users will generally find MOF files in a bundle with DLL files. The latter stores the skeleton code, which provides the data as described in the former extension.
