What is a M4V file?
Developed by Apple, the M4V is a MPEG-4 video from the iTunes store. These files usually come with DRM copyright protection and allow the user to access them only if they have their rights. The M4V format is basically MP4 files with an additional layer of security, i.e. it is a container format that stores audio and video files.
Users can convert the unprotected M4V files into MP4 ones by renaming the extension to “mp4”.
