What is a M4B file?
Is a MPEG-4 file extension commonly used by audiobooks. You will most likely encounter it on iTunes and Apple Book audios. The extension usually stores these m4b files in MPEG-4 formats and compressed via Advanced Audio Codec (AAC) encoding. They are quite similar to M4B except for the fact that they are more specific to audiobooks. Additionally, Apple phones use MPEG-4 audio formats but referred to as M4R extension. Audios with this file extension have a more significant advantage over others in that you can bookmark records at any point. Also, you can split the file into manageable parts through chapter markers. Please note that you can not play m4b files on all devices. That is because they are protected through FairPlay DRM. Only some authorized devices such as iPods and Apple devices can play m4b audios. If not protected, some devices can access the files within. However, if you are skilled, you can make a few tweaks on the plugin and it will play.
