What is a LDB file?
LDB is a file extension for a lock format. The file is used by Microsoft database to indicate records in a shared database being used by another user. The files prevent two users from editing one document simultaneously. This prevents unexpected data loss or corruption on a particular document. The file keeps track of all users accessing the database. Usually, it’s created when a user accesses the database.
A user can create an LDB file name with a similar name to the access database, but with the .ldb extension.
These files are also created in the FRX directory because FRX data access the database for most of its regular operation. LDB files are created when a report launcher or designer applications are in use. When a user with an edit-enabled file closes the file, the lock is removed, and another user can open the edit- enabled file. LDB files ensure that updates aren’t unexpectedly overwritten.
