What is a HDR file?
HDR file extension belongs to the raster category of images and is an acronym for High Dynamic Range. Developed by HDRsoft, these files primarily boost the overall color tone of a digital image, more specifically by enhancing its brightness and range.
Most creators use it to rectify the washed-out areas of their images or to add brightness to shadows that creep in somehow. One of the significant advantages of HDR images is their ability to cover the entire tonal spectrum as you may get in the real world. Be it direct sunlight, or extreme shadows, all of it looks lifelike when shot using the HDR tech as it uses multiple frames to create a single picture.
HDR files are also known as HDRI or Radiance HDR.
