What is a XPM file?
The X Pixmap (XPM) is a bitmap used by the X Windows System. It is an ASCII based format that was created by Daniel Dardailler and Colas Nahaboo at INRIA, France in the year 1989. Arnaud Le Hors evolved the arrangement in the later years.
It was primarily created for storing icon pixmaps and supports color, monochrome, and grayscale data. Users can also save a larger image or a picture with more colors using the XPM format. It has a simple structure and stores information as static character arrays, as created by the C programming language. Due to this, users can manipulate it using any basic text editor.
