What is a WAV file?

The WAV file is short for Waveform Audio File Format. This is an audio file saved in the WAVE format. The WAVE format is a standard digital audio file format used for storing waveform data. Audio recordings with different sampling rates and bitrates are stored in WAV files, but are frequently stored in the standard format used for CD audio: the 44.1 KHz, 16 -bit stereo format. It can be used in many programs run on Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. Some of the these programs include Microsoft Windows Media Player, Apple iTunes, and other third-party applications, such as VideoLAN VLC media player and Eltima Elmedia Player.
