What is a DIB file?
The DIB files is a generic Windows or OS/2 bitmap graphic. The Device-Independent Bitmap format is similar to BMP files but with a different header. They are capable of storing two-dimensional digital images in both monochrome and color. The original DIB format could only support four levels of color depths, namely 1, 4, 8, and 24-bits per pixel. The new one has support for 16 and 32-bits too. Most DIB images are stored in the BMP file format.
