DST File

Developed by Autodesk, the AutoCAD uses the DST file extension. The software is useful in designing and documenting CAD applications. The DST files generally contain information about a bunch of sheets containing drawings extracted from DWF files in an organized sheet format. Users can create these from the SSM (Sheet Set Manager) tool in the […]

CAD File

Developed by Autodesk, for it’s QuickCAD software, a CAD 2D vector drawing program, used the DWG file extension. It contains a technical drawing with geometry and other requisite information. These files are useful for mechanical pictures and floor plan information. The company discontinued the software in 2004, thereby bringing curtains to the format too.

DXF File

Developed by Autodesk, the CAD (computer-aided design) vector image files use the DXF extension to store its text content. The format came into life to ensure that a plethora of programs can access AutoCAD documents easily. The DXF files are ASCII-based and are similar to DWG extension, but is far more compatible across the board.

STL File

The software first came into the scene in 1977, and it was first demonstrated in 1982 by Comdex, and they acquired the license for the file format in the same year. It is a professional CAD (computer-aided […]

DWG File

The DWG file was created by AutoCAD for its professional design software. The .dwg extension is a database file that can contain either 2D or 3D designs. It also contains metadata describing the content of the file along with vector image data. There have been a few different variations of the DWG file over the […]
