What is a DWF file?
Developed by Autodesk, the DWF extension stores two-dimensional or three-dimensional images in Design Web Format. It is a device-independent and resolution-independent file type that tries to make creating intricate designs more easily accessible to regular users. A DWF file typically contains an illustration i.e., a combination of text and graphics. It is based on the HOOPS Stream format and is saved in zip-compressed format to save space.
Autodesk only had DWF in a 2D-compatible form for many years initially. In 2006, they introduced the DWF-3D to be able to store 3D graphics too.
