DJVU File

What is a DJVU file?

DJVU, developed by AT&T and marketed by LizardTech, is a file format that stores scanned text. It can either be an image, document, drawing, or any other graphic information. DJVU is highly popular amongst content developers due to its ability to store high-resolution color copies and publish them on the web after that.
Released first in 1998, it has seen constant developments, and it was considered superior to PDF before the latter’s standardization ruined its scope.
One of the primary reasons for using it over the more-accepted PDF format is its ability to compress more without degrading the quality of the content. It can fit a color magazine page within 70 kb, ancient manuscripts within 100 kb and black-and-white pages within 40 kb.
