What is a DAE file?
DAE file is a 3D interchange file commonly used for exchanging digital cases between numerous graphic programs. The files can contain textures, an image, and probably a 3D model. This file format is based on COLLADA (collaborative design activity) XML schema, owned by Autodesk. COLLADA format was developed by Sony and is currently supported by the Khronos group. The COLLADA format was designed to provide a standard schema, 3d graphics apps, save files, and enable file exchange between applications. DAE files can work with a variety of programs. Examples include the Online3Dconveter tool to covert DAE files into other 3D formats, and FBX converter to convert DAE files into FBX format. Most graphic programs can open DAE files. Some of these include Adobe photoshop, Chief architect, SketchUp, DAZ studio, Maya programs, or Autodesk application that supports DAE files. You should use GLC player for Linux and Apple preview if you use macOS.
Alternatively, you can use a text editor to edit and read DAE files, but they won’t work like actual viewers.
