What is a CSR file?
A CSR file is designed for a signing request used on a digital certificate. CSR file is a build-up of encrypted blocks of texts that identify the applicant of the certificate and contains several encrypted data. The data includes the state, organization, country, the pubic key, and the email address. The public key is very critical because it is the key for decrypting data coming from the receiver. It is only by using the public key that the receiver can be able to access the data. This file is used by a certificate authority to ensure that proof of identity of the websites is established. CSR files are created using two keys, namely the public and the private key. As alluded to, the public key is included in the CSR file to sign in. The private key, however, is used in the digital signing of the file.
