CAL files are files created by 3ds Max, a 3D dimensional, modeling and animation application. The files are also compressed bitmap files used in storing monochrome images. CAL files were first developed in the 1980s for the federal government to standardize graphics data for electronic publishing.
The files are associated with scheduling and calendar applications, and they contain dates and events incorporated in a calendar schedule like custom images for each calendar month. Files with this format contain adjustment values for a biped pose.
