What is a BKF file?
It is a file created through the Windows Backup Utility Tool. It is part of Windows NT and XP Pro which can be found on the systems tool. Inside is a catalog of single or various files preserved by the user. If you are using any Windows 7 and above, the NTBackup utility is not included. To access any BKF files, you will need to install this utility online for free. It is usually in a compressed format with ntmsapi.dll, ntbackup.exe, and vssapi.dll files. To restore BKF files to Windows 8 or Windows Vista system, you will need the Windows NTBackup utility. If you want to retrieve them from a BKF catalog in Windows 7, 8, and 10, use the NTBackup which is usually under the name nt5backup.cab located on the downloads page. Go to the Backup or Restore feature and click ‘restore files and settings. Click ‘browse’ and select the BKF file to finish.
