What is an AZW file?
AZW is an Amazon Kindle e-book and therefore belongs to Amazon. They are mainly associated with MOBI file formats, which were acquired by Amazon in 2005. Unlike other Mobil files, AZW files are considered more compressed, which is why they are ideal for Kindle projects. AZW files contain edited book texts with chapters markers. When you want to share an AZW file from your computer to Kindle devices, you only need a USB cable. Alternatively, you can share it via the Kindle software. Kindle contents can be easily accessed via any operating system as long as you have the Kindle software installed. These files were first used on Kindle in the year 2007. As a way to patent these files, AZW files contain DRM protection that limits their access to only Amazon. If unprotected, you can view it using an application called Mobipocket reader. However, you must rename it to a PRC file.
