What is an AVCHD file?
Developed by Sony and Panasonic, the AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) is a file format for storing high-definition videos captured by a digital camera. It was introduced in 2006 as a result of a joint partnership between these two companies and aimed to become a default format for consumer camcorders. Its quality was comparable to the HDV file and considered meaningful for professional purposes.
