What is an ARW file?
Developed by Sony, its digital cameras shoot digital photographs in ARW format. It is based on the TIFF specification and stores RAW images as captured by the camera’s CCD. Unfortunately, Sony has been using different Charged Coupled Device (CCD) for most of its cameras which mean that images shot from one of them may not be compatible with others. Users can edit an ARW file and export it in a more common file format such as TIFF or JPG.
