What is a DOTX file?
Developed by Microsoft, its Word, a word processing software, uses the DOTX format. These are open XML document templates that contain the default layouts and settings for a document. The file belongs to page layout categories and comes in a ZIP format. It includes the pre-described styles, toolbars, macros, and AutoText, enabling it to become the base for the users to build a document or a series of them.
The DOTX extension was first introduced in 2007 when Microsoft came up with Office 2007. It replaced the DOT format and employed Open XML for the first time.
