What is a CRX file?
CRX files are used for installing browser addon like games, news readers, and ad blockers. They use zip formatting and are saved in a compressed manner. Crx files add extra features and themes to the google chrome browser. The data can contain.JS, JSON, and other files like images plus executable programs.
These files can also be installed manually by drawing the files to the extension windows. To open the window, select windows then extensions from the application menu. To install Chrome extensions, click the add to the chrome button to get the extension on the chrome web store.
Chrome usually downloads the .crx extension, unpacks, and installs it, without the user having direct contact with the crx files.
After installing it, chrome automatically deletes the crx files. You can open these files in Windows, Linux, Mac, and chrome extension files. These are files that can be downloaded through Google’s website and stored on chrome by default.
