What is a SCR file?
An SCR file is a screensaver file that related to Microsoft windows. Microsoft windows come with screensavers that can be animations, graphics, slideshows or videos, which change intermittently over time. SCR files are usually stored in the Windows main directory. However, they can also be stored elsewhere in the computer, especially for the downloaded SCR files. Initially, the SCR files were created to prevent CRT and plasma computer monitors from suffering from screen burns which were a common occurrence as a result of the screen displaying the same image for a relatively long period. While modern devices are not affected by screen burns, screen savers still come in handy for two purposes. One is that they provide security, which requires login configuration for access to the main window. Also, screen savers portray the user’s style. SCR association file 2 is a generic executable form of SCR files that run a series of commands before being executed.
