Developed by PuTTY, its PuTTYgen, a public-key cryptography generator, uses the PPK (PuTTY Private Key) extension. The software is a free package similar to Telnet and SSH for Windows and Unix respectively. It holds a private key that the program generates and enables secure connection with the other parties who have the corresponding keys.
