What is a CRDOWNLOAD file?
If you are keen when using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Chromium, you may have noticed some files in the “Downloads” folder with an extension .crdownload. These extension names usually change once the download is complete. If for instance, you are downloading a word document, the files read as Unconfirmed xxxxx.crdownload (x could be any 5 numbers). Once it is complete, the crdownload extension is replaced by changing the document name to .myDoc.docx. Whenever you experience internet hitches, or you happen to pause a download, a file with this extension will always be created. You cannot retrieve the full file, but a portion of it can be accessed by deleting the .crdownload part. Usually, it is best to try resuming the download before trying to open it. The download process can be continued once the internet is back, but it depends on how long the internet was off. Most times, you may have to download the file again.
