What is an AIF file?
The Audio Interchange File, AIF, is an uncompressed audio file that is used to store CD audio. The AIF is created using the Audio Interchange File Format, AIFF, and is similar to the WAV file, especially in terms of large file sizes. It contains audio data, channel information which is monophonic or stereophonic, sample rate, bit depth, and specific application areas. Windows uses the AIF, but Mac will show the AIFF.
