What is an AIFF file?
The Audio Interchange File Format is a non-compressed and lossless audio file. Because it is non-compressed, it takes up more space than files such as MP3. However, because of its quality, AIFF files are used to burn audio CDs. There are compressed AIFF files, called AIFF-C or AIFC, and the quality is indistinguishable. The AIFF file is also used to create music as it induces loop point data and note samples and also stores metadata, which is data such as its name, name of the author, and copyright information. It can be opened by File Viewer Plus and Apple iTunes.
