What is an ASF file?
Developed by Microsoft, the ASF (Advanced Systems Format) extension is a proprietary video and audio container format. It stores audio, video, or both and can occasionally also contain metadata about the author, and other information. An ASF file format is mostly used as a medium to play files online.
It contains only the structure of the audio or the video file and doesn’t determine the speed of streaming.
