What is a FLV file?
Developed by Adobe, the FLV file is an output of the Flash Video Exporter plugin found in the Adobe Animate program or other software that uses it. It is a flash-compatible video file that consists of interleaved audio and video, a short header and metadata packets.
The FLV extensions stores the video and audio data in SWF format and you can export these files conveniently to any other compatible formats. Macromedia developed the Animate software and named it ‘Flash’ but it subsequently merged it with Adobe in 2005.
