What is a PAGES file?
A PAGES file extension is a proprietary format of Apple Pages, which is a word processor and page layout application for Mac and iOS. It is also available as an online service for other Apple users. The PAGES format is based on XML and contains texts, tables, graphs, charts, brochures, and others. Apple also serves its users around 140 pre-designed templates to choose from while creating a PAGES file.
It is a ZIP archive which contains the following –
– buildVersionHistory.plist consisting of a small text file holding the version history data of the original document.
– Index.xml which contains the primary material.
– Preview.pdf which lets the user take a sneak peek.
– Thumbnail.jpg is a low-res image of the actual material.
