What is a XCF file?
XCF or eXperimental Computing Facility refers to a bitmap format that its creator, GIMP, uses as its default file format. GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a free distributed image editing software which allows users to save channels, layers, paths, transparency, and guides. One major gripe with the extension is there is no undo button.
XCF format has received many revisions, and it is the reason why other image editors are reluctant to add it support on their platform.
