What is an UGOIRA file?
Developed by Pixiv, the UGOIRA file format allows user to created animated files online. It is a Japanese online community mostly known to house artists. These files contain a group of illustrated images in JPG or PNG format lined up in succession to seem as an animation. The UGOIRA format was supposed to be an improvement over GIFs as it did not have the 256 color limitation and took less space too.
