What is a PJPG file?
A PJPG file is a binary map stored in the Progressive JPEG format. These are different from the general JPEGs as they use a different encoding procedure that gives them a special effect. PJPGs appear hazy at first and progressively become sharper. It may also contain horizontal lines which appear until you get to see the entire image. You can also view previews of the PJPGs before downloading the actual image.
These were a common thing of the past, and we could find them in the older version of our web browsers, such as Internet Explorer. However, with the increased popularity of colored images, their acceptance has taken a hit, and you won’t find them commonly around.
You can rename PJPGs to convert them into JPGs, or you can export them into more widely accepted formats such as PNG or JPEG too.
