What is a JB2 file?
The JB2 file extension belongs to the house of Joint Bi-level Image Group and refers to bitonal images created in the JBIG2 format. The Joint Bi-level Group 2 (JBIG2) can store 1-bit black and white pixels in lossy or lossless formats and supports higher compression ratio than most of its competitors.
A JB2 file has three segments, text, halftone, and generic regions. Due to this segmentation, users get optimum compression for each part of the picture. It has replaced the JBIG extension and is commonly useful in storing binary images (large ones) to be sent via fax.
