What is a KEYSTORE file?

KEYSTORE are encoded files in binary format. Just as the name suggests, these files are mainly used as security files. The most frequent users of the file are IDEs such as Eclipse and Unity. These IDEs use the file for verification of the application developers. The mode of storage of the file is in cryptographic keys. These keys or certificates assume the binary Java key store (JKS) format. Many other security options use this file. For example, identification of an app builder in google play. Due to the nature of data, the file contains, a password must be available. This is to protect the data from unauthorized access. Backing up the file is essential because it cannot be recovered once lost. This file extension is similar to a JKS extension. In fact, the two are sometimes used interchangeably. The only slight difference is that Unity 2007 is more familiar with KEYSTORE.
