What is a DEX file?

DEX file is commonly referred to as Dalvik executable file. This is a developer file affixed with .dex extension. It’s used to initialize and executing applications developed for the Android mobile and Google-Linux based mobile phone platform. The DEX files can be created manually or by automatically translating the complied Java program.
The DEX files contain a complied code written for Android that locates and initializes other program files. Multiple DEX files combined and zipped in a singles APK package make up the final application for the Android device. The DEX file is used together with a virtual machine known as The Dalvik Virtual Machine, which is implemented into the Android OS to interpret the compiled code stored in a DEX file. The files can be opened in Windows, Mac, and Linux.
You need an appropriate software to open or access DEX file. Google Android SDX is one of such programs.
